These approaches support clients navigating family dynamics, emotional stress, and life transitions. The term “Asian” broadly refers to individuals with origins in East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and surrounding regions. This includes diverse cultural, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds, such as South Asian and East Asian communities.
In most cases, psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health insurance plans provide coverage for therapy sessions with licensed providers such as RSWs or registered psychotherapists.
A therapist is a broad term that may include registered psychotherapists, counsellors, or social workers. Psychologists typically have doctoral-level training and may focus on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Both can provide effective mental health support depending on client needs.

Our Commitment to Our Communities
For far too long, people of colour have been underrepresented in the mental health space, both as providers of psychotherapy services and seekers of those services. Our lived experiences and observations led us to understand that one of the most fundamental areas of change needed in our field is for better representation of its professionals. We want people, no matter their journey or their identity, to feel seen and heard as they navigate their healing.
