Our co-founder Sarah completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto, specializing in mental health and addictions. Over the past 10 years, she has worked as a mental health and addictions therapist at the Center For Addiction & Mental Health (CAMH) and is currently working as a mental health therapist at the University of Toronto.
Sarah strongly favors an integrative, trauma-informed, client-centered approach to create a healthy alliance with clients and their loved ones. Over the years Sarah has worked with a diverse clientele within a multitude of clinical inpatient and outpatient settings. She has extensive experience providing individual and group counseling to those experiencing mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, and co-occurring substance use issues. Additionally, Sarah provides support for loved ones on how to sustain healthy relationships and manage life stressors.
In addition to her work at Wellnest, Sarah holds the position of an adjunct lecturer for the University of Toronto, Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. She founded the Canadian Muslim Addiction Association and provides educational workshops on substance abuse and addictive behaviors in the community.
Sarah provides faith-based therapy for clients who identify as Muslim and provides services in English, Hindi and Urdu.
She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
