For many, therapy can be a very scary and daunting thought, especially if this is your first time and you’re sharing the most vulnerable parts of yourself with a complete stranger. You may be thinking that you need some help learning how to process, manage and cope with what happened to you, or you might desire to learn some skills to help you deal with a particular struggle, but you’re also a little freaked out and it might feel a little weird. Khadine’s goal is to lessen those feelings and make this process as comfortable as possible.
Khadine is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She received her degree at Ryerson University where she majored in Social Work and Minored in Psychology and Sociology. She completed her Master of Social Work degree at York University with a focus on Mental Health. Khadine has experience working with diverse groups of clients across a broad spectrum of ages (16+) and challenges, including individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety, trauma, borderline personality disorder, grief and so on.
Khadine works from a client-centered, anti-oppressive approach, and strongly believes that you are the expert of your own life. As a result, you can expect collaboration and inclusion in the development of your treatment plan.
She is an integrative therapist who has a strong footing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Khadine uses CBT to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and how to identify and change unhelpful thinking and behavioral patterns.
Understanding that clients are diverse and have unique needs, she also draws from additional therapeutic approaches such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma informed counselling and the incorporation of Spirituality (Christianity) for those who would like to incorporate faith as an important and valuable component to their care.
Based on your personal goals, Khadine is passionate about helping to provide you with tangible skills and strategies that could be used to help you successfully build self-confidence, manage unwanted behaviors and stress, regulate difficult emotions, tolerate, cope with and work through distress, and develop and maintain relationships that last.
Therapy doesn’t have to be scary, weird, or uncomfortable. Khadine is committed to providing a non-judgmental, caring and supportive space where you’re safe to be you.
Together, she can help you become the best version of yourself.
