About

Husna obtained her Bachelor and Masters of Social Work at Ryerson and York University, respectively. She has extensive experience in crisis and suicide intervention, case management, and counselling for individuals dealing with a variety of mental illnesses, concurrent disorders and substance-dependence issues. As a clinical social worker at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, Husna currently provides intensive case management support and cognitive behavioral therapy to individuals with schizophrenia.

Husna offers counselling to adolescents, adults and families. Her approach to therapy is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and client-centered. She utilizes a combination of therapeutic techniques including cognitive and dialectical behavioral, solutions-focused, and narrative therapy along with other interventions tailored to your needs. As each therapeutic process is unique, Husna believes working collaboratively to set goals and expectations is essential for growth and healing to take place.

Husna knows that being able to confront the things that have been bothering you takes courage and bravery. During the course of psychotherapy, her aim is to gently guide you through the process of exploring parts of yourself in order to gain insight and make changes in your life. Husna feels immensely humbled by the trust she is awarded each time a person shares their story, and so privileged to play a role in your path of self-discovery.

Husna provides services in English, Dari and Hindi.

Husna is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
