About

During your therapeutic experience with Afreen, we will explore your patterns of emotions, thoughts, and behaviours and how they are linked to aspects of your past and present life experiences. You will learn more about yourself, relationships, trauma responses, mind-body connections, and much more. Learning to validate yourself while coping in stressful situations can be one of the most valuable skills to gain through therapy.

Afreen strives to foster a supportive, intersectional, and trauma-informed environment in her therapy sessions. Her areas of focus include depression, anxiety, trauma, post-traumatic stress, emotional dysregulation, and relational/interpersonal issues.

Afreen has significant training and experience in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy. Based on your needs and goals, Afreen will develop an integrated approach drawing from various effective therapies to offer a personalized therapeutic experience.

Afreen completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto specializing in Psychology and Trauma/Anxiety, and later her Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto.

She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers, and the National Association of Social Workers.
